Blooming in Spring

As the winter yoga sessions are wrapping up I'm excited to announce that we will continue Wednesday Evenings Slow Flow Yoga through the Spring season. Time to shake off the winter and bloom into Spring with Gentle movements focused on slow openings, proper alignment and being guided by the breath.

This time of year lends itself to the feelings of shedding layers, feeling lighter and more spacious;
cleaning the fridge and cupboards of those heavier ingredients that made comforting warm foods through winter. Less sweaters, clearing closets, clearing unused household items because they just don't seem to serve us in this season the same way they did through winter.

Spring is a time of renewal, an opportunity to start again, start fresh and explore our true nature and what serves us in this season. By letting go of old stuff, we can bring new energy into light. Still, there might be a feeling that the job is not yet complete and that we need to dig deeper, turning from our outside environments to the inside. No wonder Traditional Chinese Medicine associate the organs of the liver and gallbladder with the spring season. The liver being the master detoxifier, removing the "excess clutter" and ushering it out via the gallbladder and digestive track. Sounds exactly like spring to me! (Nerdy nutritionist laughter inserted here)

It's natural to eat more fibre rich foods and fold in more raw foods through the spring and summer, allowing our bodies to "declutter" and shed stored energy naturally kept in reserves over winter.  We also tend to spend more time outside, filling up with sunlight and rich oxygen, that naturally makes us feel more energized.

If you looking for a little inspiration, check out this yummy spring recipe to eat fresh and feel vibrant.

And because the days still have a bit of crisp to the mornings and evenings out here on the east coast, here is a warming, light and easy recipe for those busy spring days.

Seize this time to spring clean and declutter your living and working spaces, as they are an extension of your energy field. Be ruthless, and let go of any unused or unwanted stuff. You may observe the difference straight away and feel great about the space you have created!

Another great way to embrace the Spring energy is to adapt our yoga practice, alternating dynamic practices which are more stimulating, energizing, increasing circulation in the body, and Yin restorative practices with supported postures, held longer, which help to reach deeper layers of the body, releasing tensions, knots and old energy, creating spaciousness in the body an in the mind.

Once our sacred space has been cleared inside and out, inspiration will arise and we are ready to embrace new fresh energy. We have a clear canvas and can allow ourselves to play with creativity, while considering what truly makes us happy and fulfilled.

    I wanted a venue to share my thoughts on what I have learned and lived  in life.

Wild Seed Holistic Health respectfully acknowledges that we work, live & play in the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq People. This territory is covered by the “Treaties of Peace and Friendship” which Mi’kmaq Wəlastəkwiyik (Maliseet), and Passamaquoddy Peoples first signed with the British Crown in 1726. The treaties did not deal with surrender of lands and resources but in fact recognized Mi’kmaq and Wəlastəkwiyik (Maliseet) title and established the rules for what was to be an ongoing relationship between nations.
